Mannford Public Schools – FY18 Site Teacher of the Year
Christen Weatherford has been commended by her peers as the MECC FY18 Site Teacher of the Year! Mrs. Weatherford, designated as a nationally certified educator by the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS), has served as the PE Teacher for grades PK-5 for 3-years. Prior to her arrival at Mannford, Mrs. Weatherford had 13-years of service as PE Teacher at a number of PK-8 schools. Mrs. Weatherford earned her Bachelors in Physical Education from Metropolitan State College, Denver, CO. Mrs. Weatherford is noted by her peers for her ability to inspire all students to enjoy physical fitness by utilizing a wide variety of games and activities. Mrs. Weatherford is also noted for her diligence in grant writing, the receipt of which allows her to incorporate new and creative methods to inspire her students to a healthy lifestyle. Finally, Mrs. Weatherford is noticed as the person who “not only talks the talk but also walks the walk…literally!” continuously encouraging all those around her to a healthy and fit lifestyle. Tawni Remington has been commended by her peers as the MELEM FY18 Site Teacher of the Year! Mrs. Remington has served as a 3rd-grade teacher for 7-years. Mrs. Remington earned her Bachelors in Elementary Education from Oklahoma State University. Mrs. Remington is described by her peers as “a dedicated and compassionate teacher” who “gives 100% of herself” and noted for working “countless hours” beyond the school day to ensure the success of her students. Congratulations, Mrs. Remington!
Latosha Sellers has been commended by her peers as the MUE FY18 Site Teacher of the Year! Mrs. Sellers has served as a Reading teacher at MUE for the past 4-years. Prior to coming to MUE, Mrs. Sellers served at Tulsa Public Schools for 8-years. Mrs. Sellers earned both her Bachelors in Elementary Education and her Masters in both Reading and Educational Leadership from Northeastern State University. Mrs. Sellers is noted by her peers for her “collaboration” with other teachers, “understanding and compassion” for her students, and credited for her “positive influence” which benefits not only her students but also her fellow teachers. Congratulations, Mrs. Sellers!
Shelly Bruski has been commended by her peers as the MMS FY18 Site Teacher of the Year! Mrs. Bruski has served as Art teacher at MMS for the past 4-years. Prior to coming to MMS, Mrs. Bruski served as Art teacher at Keystone Public Schools for 16-years. Mrs. Bruski earned her Bachelors in Elementary Education from Langston University. Mrs. Bruski is described by her peers as helping students “see their potential in art”, credited for the “FABULOUS art show”, and noted for her organizational ability in “getting all the projects started and finished while allowing each student to work at his/her own pace”. Congratulations, Mrs. Bruski!
Penny Oyler has been commended by her peers as the MHS FY18 Site Teacher of the Year! Mrs. Oyler currently serves at MHS as Algebra 1 and Psychology teacher, but has also served as English teacher during her 7-year tenure at MHS. Prior to coming to MHS, Mrs. Oyler served at ASTEC Charter (OKC) and Perkins-Tryon School District for a combined 9-years. Mrs. Oyler earned her Bachelors in Secondary Education from Oklahoma State University. Mrs. Oyler is described by her peers as a teacher who “arrives early and leaves late nearly every day AND she is available most lunch periods for students that need extra help”. Congratulations, Mrs. Oyler!
