Bus service is available to all MECC students.

Mannford Public Schools is pleased to offer bus service, and families are encouraged to take advantage of it to help alleviate traffic congestion.

Arrival and dismissal procedures

Please review both sections carefully and share the appropriate expectations with your child.

Arrival

Morning Drop-Off Procedures

Front Doors Open at 7:40

1. Please pull over to the curb in the far-right drop-off lane at the front of the school. Let your child out on the curb side (passenger’s side) of the car and then exit the drop-off lane. An adult will be at the front door watching for students as they enter the building.
2. Drivers are encouraged to remain in their vehicles at all times.
3. Please take care of lunch money, signing of notes, or other activities before entering the unloading area. If you need more time, please park in a designated parking spot and escort your child across the parking lot to the front entry.
4. If you do need to pass the curbside traffic in the outside lane, please proceed slowly, patiently, and cautiously.

Do not park in the drop-off lane. Do not drop off students in other areas of the lot and have them walk across lanes of traffic. Unescorted drop-offs are made along the curb only.

Dismissal

After-School Car Pick-Up Procedures

Pre-K 2:45–3:00 • Kindergarten 3:00–3:10

1. Enter the traffic lane the same way as indicated for the morning. If you are picking up both a Pre-K and Kindergarten student, please do not enter the parking lot until 3:00 p.m.
2. Have your car pass displayed until after your child is in your vehicle. This lets everyone know which car your child belongs in. If no car pass is displayed, you will be asked to park and take your ID into the office to pick up your child.
3. A staff member will be announcing your child’s name in the building. Please remind your child to listen for their name so they will be ready to exit the building.
4. If at all possible, your child should enter the vehicle on the curb side (back passenger-right side). Children this age should not be placed in front seats.
5. Go over with your child how to buckle their car seat. If you need to assist them, please pull up and over to help them. This will keep the line moving.
6. Please be patient, alert, and ready at all times.

Important reminder

Children this age should not be placed in front seats. Please make sure your child enters on the curb side whenever possible and is secured safely before leaving the area.

• 1Keep young children in the back seat whenever possible.
• 2Have children practice buckling independently so the line can continue moving efficiently.
• 3If an adult must assist with buckling, pull up and over before helping.

Quick safety reminders

A few simple habits help protect children and keep traffic moving.

Use the curb side

Students should enter and exit vehicles from the passenger side whenever possible.

Be ready

Complete notes, money, and other preparations before entering the unloading lane.

Stay patient and alert

Move slowly, watch for children and staff, and follow the established traffic pattern.
