Families who suspect that a child may have a disability and need special education or related services may contact the district for additional information.

Child Find applies to children who are suspected of having a disability and needing special education or related services.

Helping children receive the education they deserve

The Oklahoma State Department of Education asks schools and communities to make families aware of Child Find opportunities. This responsibility includes children with disabilities who reside in Oklahoma, whether they attend public or private schools.

“All children with disabilities, residing in the State, whether attending public or private schools, should be identified, located, and evaluated.”

In Oklahoma, Child Find applies to all children who are suspected of having a disability and may need special education or related services.

These identification and evaluation services are provided to children with disabilities free of charge throughout the State of Oklahoma.

How Child Find works

Identify, locate, and evaluate

Contacting the district begins a conversation about the child’s needs and whether additional evaluation may be appropriate.

Identify a Concern

A parent, guardian, educator, or other person may recognize concerns about a child’s learning, development, communication, behavior, movement, hearing, vision, or other needs.

Contact Special Services

Share the concern with Mannford Public Schools Special Services and ask for information about Child Find and available supports.

Review and Evaluation

The district will provide information about the appropriate review, referral, or evaluation process based on the child’s needs.
