​         MVSKOKE LANGUAGE IMMERSION CAMP
    June 12-16, 2017
                                                                      Sequoyah Lodge, Hulbert, OK

Dear Parent or Guardian:

We are pleased to announce that in accordance with NCA 07-068, this year’s week-long, overnight Immersion Camp that is being extended to students who are entering the 7th through those entering the 12th grade.  Students must be enrolled Creek citizens and those who have the desire to read, speak and write in the Mvskoke Language.  The application process includes a 200 word essay preferably on a typed word document on the IMPORTANCE of Mvskoke Language Preservation.  The camp will be held at the Sequoyah State Park, Hulbert, OK.

*Must submit to a head lice check the morning of the first day of camp-prior to departing for camp.  The check will be conducted by the Nation’s Health official.  Any student found with head lice will not be allowed to attend.

These are the following guidelines that we need for you to discuss with your child(ren).  
BEHAVIOR:
Must obey all rules set by the staff.
Be respectful to everyone and everyone’s property.
Students must stay within the Sequoyah State Park boundaries at all times.  
Attend all classes and activities.  Be on time.
Do not be late for meals.  Meals will be served during scheduled time only.
Girls are not allowed in the boys room and the boys are not allowed in the girls rooms.
Students need to be in their rooms by 9:30 p.m.  LIGHTS OUT AT 10:00 p.m.
Students must comply with the cell phone rule.  (No cell phones or electronic games during class or activity time).

SAFETY:
Report any illness or injury to a staff member immediately.

PERFORMANCE:
Have a positive attitude and display good sportsmanship.
Participate and put your best efforts into all activities.
Speak and attempt to learn the Mvskoke Language as much as possible.

REQUIRED ATTIRE:
Name tags must be worn at all times.
Correctly fitting clothing:  t-shirts, no spaghetti straps, shorts (one inch above knee only), capris, sneakers, light jacket.
No sagging jeans or shorts, no expensive personal items.

SWIMMING ATTIRE:
Girls-One piece suit.  No two piece swim suit.
Boys-Swimming trunks that fit.

***Please include your Mvskoke Creek Great, Great Grandparents names as well. 
*Students will need to be here no later than 8:30 am and may arrive as early as 7:45 am on Monday, June 12, 2017.
*Students will be ready for pick up on Friday, June 16, 2017 at approximately 2:00 pm.

Permission and Release Form


I hereby release, absolve, indemnify, hold harmless and forever discharge the Mvskoke Language Program, the Muscogee Creek Nation, sponsors, staff and supervisors from any and all claims, demands, actions or cause of actions, past, present, or future arising of any personal injury, loss of health, loss of property, or other damage sustained to me and/or my family, directly or indirectly, resulting while participating in the Mvskoke Language Summer Immersion Camp.

I assume all risks and hazards incidental to the conduct of the activities and transportation to and from the area.  I, likewise, release from responsibility any person transporting the student to and from the camp.

I hereby grant permission for the Mvskoke Language Program to use photographs of myself and my family members for newspapers, displays, bulletin boards, website, or any other types of language publications.
